City of Heroes keeps getting it right. Clearly they are not trying to be WoW in that they know they are a niche market MMO, so they have been taking continual steps to maintain the subscriber base with the hopes that they will catch new players. Buying cheaper COH Influence is not an easy job.
This free expansion implements a lot of things that players have been asking to have for some time.coh influence Matt Miller (aka Positron) talked about the mission creator last year while the "Day Job" thing has been simmering in design for almost 3 years (originally dubbed the skills system) in COH.
To answer the article regarding what perks, generally it would be in the form of badges or unlockable weapons or costumes, but the devs, in official posts since the announcement signalled that it might be that they will unlock the missions capability to reward people for doing it. Also it was alluded that well regarded content would open up additional editor options for those designers.
But the true goodness of this Issue, and that is just based on what they have listed is the overwhelming amount of QoL and immersion material they have added.coh influence From custom mission designers that can allow you to flesh out your characters by having origin missions or personalized arch nemesis stories, to your day job, to additional powers to little things like finally allowing villains to respect to different patrons (like Heroes already can), this is just good stuff for every current player and cannot help but persuade new people to at least try it out. |
